    Our project was established in 2005 as a priority area for action aligned to the NSW Tobacco Action Plan 2005 - 2009.

    We work with local healthcare services and train Aboriginal Health Workers in brief smoking cessation interventions.

    Progress

    Since August 2007 over 1100 health practitioners around NSW have participated in the SmokeCheck training workshops.

    Resources

    Our resources are culturally appropriate and evidence based and include information for health workers, a DVD, desktop tool card, brochures and a magnet.

    We work closely with NSW Ministry of Health, Cancer Institute NSW, the Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council, Local Health Districts and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
