Who we are

Our Project team consists of 6 staff members and our Project Executive Committee guides the project’s strategy.
Background

Our project was established in 2005 as a priority area for action aligned to the NSW Tobacco Action Plan 2005 - 2009.
Programs

We work with local healthcare services and train Aboriginal Health Workers in brief smoking cessation interventions.
Progress

Since August 2007 over 800 health practitioners around NSW have participated in the SmokeCheck training workshops.
Resources

Our resources are culturally appropriate and evidence based and include information for health workers, a DVD, desktop tool card, brochures and a poster.
Partners

We work closely with NSW Health, Cancer Institute (NSW), the Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council, Area Health Services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
